If you need to replace the cable that runs from your extruder assembly to your main board on your Robo E4 Pro, you'll need both a 2 and a 2.5mm Allen wrench as well as some wire cutters. Unload filament and unplug your printer to begin. The process should take about 30 minutes.
- 1. Remove housing cover.
- Detach ribbon cable from extruder assembly board.
- Detach two ribbon organizers using the small Allen wrench. These are secured both with screws and adhesive, so you'll have to pull a little to carefully detach the parts.
- Tilt the printer onto it's side, filament door side up.
- Remove the back panel using the small Allen wrench.
- Remove the bottom panel using the large Allen wrench.
- Detach the ribbon cable from the mainboard and adhesive running along the bottom and back. Leave as much adhesive as you can for the replacement ribbon.
- Remove the two bottom screws on the back panel so you can create a little space for the ribbon cable to be pulled out of the top of the housing and removed from the printer.
- When replacing the cable, start at the mainboard and retrace your route, securing to the adhesive and doing clean folds then you need to change direction.
- When you get to the slot on the back panel where you need to feed the wire into the top of the printer, use an Allen wrench to leverage more space between the two metal pieces. (Skip to 5:00 to see this process).
- Resecure the back and bottom panels and re-run the cable up to the extruder assembly. Tilt the printer back to right-side up.
- Attach to the assembly and move it to the front right corner before securing in the back left corner of the printer.
- Replace the housing cover.
- When you power your printer back on, run homing as well as z-axis and sensor calibration.
