For unclogging refer to our article "My Robo E4 Pro is jammed/clogged in the extruder. How do I unclog it?"
To Replace the Extruder Assembly (Easier)
If you cleared filament but you are still getting poor print quality or no filament through the extruder, you will have to replace your extruder nozzle or assembly. The extruder assembly is easier to trade out but does not come included as a spare part with the printer.
First, unload filament from your printer.
Use an Allen wrench to loosen the set screw on the front of the extruder assembly in the hole shown. Then, remove the extruder assembly by pulling down. If it is still hot, use pliers.
Insert the new assembly into the same place and re-tighten the set screw.
Turn the printer off and back on and then re-calibrate your printer prior to loading filament.
How do I replace my extruder nozzle? (More Complicated)
If you cleared filament but you are still getting poor print quality or no filament through the extruder, you will have to replace your extruder nozzle or assembly. The extruder assembly is easier to trade out but does not come included as a spare part with the printer. The extruder nozzle comes included with your printer.
First, unload filament from your printer. Remove the extruder assembly cover by loosening the 3 screws on the side of the housing. There is one on the left and 2 on the right. Then, pull the cover forward and off so you have easier access to the extruder assembly.
Then, preheat your printer to 275°C. Once it’s pre-heated, hold the heat block in place with pliers or a wrench and then use an 8mm socket wrench to loosen the nozzle. Be careful with the hot extruder!
DO NOT over-apply force or you may snap the nozzle in half or strip the nozzle. If you do so, you will have to get a new extruder assembly to replace.
Once it’s been screwed loose, you may replace it with the included spare. Screw into place tightly but do not overtighten.
Turn the printer off and back on and then re-calibrate your printer prior to loading filament.
